VINTON, LA

                March 21, 2017

 

                The Mayor and Council of the Town of Vinton, Louisiana, met in regular session at the regular meeting place of said Mayor and Council, in the Town Hall, Vinton, Louisiana, at 6:00 p.m. on the 21st day of March, 2017, with the following members present:

 

                                                                                Kenneth O. Stinson, Mayor

                                                                                Bliss Bujard, Council Member

                                                                                William “BB” Loyd, Mayor Pro Tem

                                                                                Kevin Merchant, Council Member

                                                                                Paul Patin, Council Member

                                                                                Marcus Renfrow, Council Member                                                 

                                                                                                                                                                                                               

                                ABSENT:                               None

                               

                                ALSO PRESENT:                                Cade R. Cole, Town Attorney and Coy Vincent, CPA

                                                                               

                                                                The following Reports were submitted:

                Total Receipts for February, 2017                                                   $1,161,709.38

        $   330,755.09

 

 

 

Kenneth O. Stinson, Mayor called the meeting to order and Council Member Loyd led in prayer, and then followed the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

                                It was moved by Council Member Merchant that the minutes of prior meetings as corrected, copies of which were mailed to each council member prior to the meeting, be approved as written.  The motion was seconded by Council Member Bujard and carried.

 

                                Mary Vice, City Clerk gave the monthly Administration Department report. 

 

                                Bills for the month of February, 2017, were approved and payment authorized upon a motion by Council Member Merchant, seconded by Council Member Loyd and carried.

 

                                Mayor Stinson updated the governing authority on pending grants and projects.  He reported that one bid was received on the 2017 Street Overlay Project as follows:

 

R.C. PAVING                        $422,690.00

 

                                Upon the recommendation of the Engineer, it was moved by Council Member Merchant that the bid from R.C. Paving be accepted for the 2017 Street Overlay Project.  The motion was seconded by Council Member Loyd and carried.

 

                                Mayor Stinson announced that Trash Bash will be held on April 22, 2017.

 

                                Coy Vincent, CPA presented the audit for the September 30, 2016, fiscal year to the governing authority.  He reported that the town was given a clean opinion and is in good financial condition.

 

                                It was moved by Council Member Merchant to accept the audit as presented.  The motion was seconded by Council Member Bujard and carried.

 

                               

 

                                Chief Ricky Fox gave the monthly police department report.

                                In the absence of Terry Vice, Public Works Director, Mayor Stinson gave the monthly Public Works and Electrical Department reports.

                                Chris Vice, Fire Chief gave the monthly Fire and Civil Defense reports.

 

                                Mr. Thomas Frederick discussed with the council the abandonment of approximately 20’X125’ of the alley that runs west from Horridge Street to Stevenson Street.

 

                                After discussion, it was moved by Council Member Bujard to authorize the attorney to draw up an ordinance for introduction at the next meeting to abandon the section of the alley discussed, an approximate 20’X125’ section that runs west from Horridge Street to Stevenson Street.  The motion was seconded by Council Member Patin and carried.

 

                                There being no further business to come before the Governing Authority, it was moved by Council Member Bujard that the meeting be adjourned.  The motion was seconded by Council Member Loyd and carried.
