The Mayor and Council of the Town of Vinton, Louisiana, met in regular session at the regular meeting place of said Mayor and Council, in the Town Hall, Vinton, Louisiana, at 6:00 p.m. on the 15th day of September, 2015, with the following members present:
Kenneth O. Stinson, Mayor
Bliss Bujard, Council Member
William “BB” Loyd, Mayor-Pro-Tem
Kevin Merchant, Council Member
Paul Patin, Council Member
Marcus Renfrow, Council Member
ALSO PRESENT: Cade R. Cole, Town Attorney
The following Reports were submitted:
Total Payroll for August, 2015 $ 164,686.82
Total Receipts for August, 2015 $1,200,268.77
Total Disbursements for August, 2015 $1,118,971.99
Total Bills for August, 2015 $ 419,915.00
Kenneth O. Stinson, Mayor called the meeting to order and Rev. Roger Templeton led in prayer, and then followed the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Stinson presented a Proclamation to Mr. Kevin Hare for his accomplishments in the music industry.
It was moved by Council Member Merchant that the minutes of prior meetings as corrected, copies of which were mailed to each Council Member prior to the meeting, be approved as written. The motion was seconded by Council Member Loyd and carried.
Mary Vice, City Clerk gave the monthly Administration Department report.
Bills for the month of August, 2015, were approved and payment authorized upon a motion by Council Member Renfrow, seconded by Council Member Bujard and carried.
Mayor Stinson updated the governing authority on pending grants and projects.
Mayor Stinson announced that Larry & Linda Hare – 1118 Horridge Street had been awarded Yard of the Month.
Mayor Stinson reported that Haley Bellard’s term on the Vinton Harbor & Terminal Board will expire on October 30th and two names needed to be submitted by the town to the board.
It was moved by Council Member Merchant, seconded by Council Member Bujard that the following names be submitted for the Vinton Harbor & Terminal Board for the expiring term of Haley Bellard:
Council Member Patin discussed beginning a Sidewalk Project that would include the sidewalks in front of the Methodist and First Baptist Churches. He asked Public Works Director, Terry Vice to get some quotes on repairing these sidewalks.
Chief Ricky Fox gave the monthly police department report.
Terry Vice, Director of Public Works gave the monthly Public Works and Electrical Department reports.
In the absence of Jerry Merchant, Fire Chief the monthly fire and civil defense reports were given by Council Member Merchant.
There being no further business to come before the Governing Authority, it was moved by Council Member Merchant that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was seconded by Council Member Loyd and carried.
