Vinton, Louisiana

                        The President and Board of Commissioners of the Vinton Harbor and Terminal District met in regular session on November 14, 2017, at 1200 Horridge Street, Vinton, Louisiana, at 6:00 P.M. after full compliance with all requirements as to notice and otherwise in respect to convening of said meeting with the following members present:

                       

                                                            Jerry Merchant, President

                                                            Charles Broussard, Commissioner

                                                            Steven L. Jennings, Commissioner

                                                            Alexis Morrow, Commissioner

                                                                                                                                               

                                     ABSENT:         Haley Bellard, Commissioner                                                                                                                             

ALSO PRESENT:         Jay Delafield, Board Attorney and Lee Lancon, Engineer

 

                        President Merchant called the meeting to order.  Commissioner Morrow led in prayer and then followed the Pledge of Allegiance. 

 

                        Gravity Drainage District #2 representatives, Donald R. Stinson, President, Harry Aucoin and Andy Sonnier, Commissioners presented the governing authority with the grant award from the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury for the proposed Dredging Project.

 

                        President Merchant reported that the following nominations were received for the expiring term of Steve Jennings on the board:

 

                                                Town of Vinton:  Steve Jennings & Rick Watson

                                                CPPJ:  Steve Jennings and Brent Clement

 

                        It was moved by Commissioner Broussard the Steve Jennings be re-appointed to the board for another term.  The motion was seconded by Commissioner Morrow and carried.

 

                        It was moved by Commissioner Broussard that minutes of prior meeting, copies of which were mailed to each commissioner be approved as written.  The motion was seconded by Commissioner Jennings and carried.

 

                        Bills for the month were approved upon a motion by Commissioner Jennings, seconded by Commissioner Broussard and carried.

 

                        It was moved by Commissioner Morrow that the financial statement for October 31, 2017, be approved as presented.  The motion was seconded by Commissioner Jennings and carried.

                        Mr. Gus Fontenot, SWLA Economic Development Alliance discussed industrial certification for the port property.                       

                        President Merchant discussed the following issues in his report:

 

-          Mowing for 2017 is complete

-          Update on Pete Pauley Agreement

 

                        Director Hohensee gave his monthly report. 

 

                        Lee Lancon, Engineer gave an update on the Dredging Project and the Johnny Breaux Road Extension Project.

 

                        There being no further business to come before the Governing Authority, it was moved by Commissioner Broussard that the meeting be adjourned.  The motion was seconded by Commissioner Morrow and carried.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           ____________________________________
