Project Cypress Seeks Members for Community Engagement Council
Project Cypress Southwest (SW) is seeking community-minded residents of Sulphur, Vinton, and the Lake Charles Area to serve on its Community Engagement Council (CEC). The CEC is a 7-9 person panel made up of representatives of communities and community groups potentially impacted by the DAC Hub who help provide input and feedback to Project Cypress developers at every stage of project. The CEC will participate in regular meetings with various members of the Project Cypress Team, with initial CEC members working to help set by-laws and organizational structure. Terms will generally be set at two-years with potential options to renew as decided by the CEC. Members of the CEC will receive compensation for their service.
Applications opened in mid-June and will remain open until August 9, 2024 – about one week later than the initial deadline. The process entails completing an application form and participating in an interview. Applications can either be submitted online at this link on the Project Cypress website or via mail. Paper copies of the application, including a self-addressed, stamped envelope for returning the form, are available at the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Office – 1015 Pithon Street, Lake Charles, Louisiana 70601.
